The world of Ao no Exorcist consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exists within it. Satan is the god of demons, but there’s one thing that he doesn’t have and that’s a container in the human world that is powerful enough to hold him! For that purpose, he created Okumura Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans, or will he become something else…? After killing Rin’s guardian Father Fujimoto in an attempt to bring Rin back to the Demon world, it led to Rin’s journey on becoming an Exorcist in order to defeat Satan.

I saw the anime some years ago and I really liked it. It was way too short but it was amazing!! Plus Rin was freaking awesome! (he is sooo cute!)

But I heard that the manga follows a bit of a different path. I am not sure if it’s true but I decided to give it a go. I haven’t been reading much manga so I wanted to start with something a bit more familiar. And I am really happy I did, because I am really liking it!

I really enjoyed the fact that the first book was already full of twists. It does have an introduction to the characters and the world but it doesn’t lose any time getting the story moving. It has a lot of surprising moments and some cute ones too. I am really exited to see how the plot develops and what kind of demons will they have to deal with!

Rin is a very expressive and hot-headed character – sooo charmy! – that is always in some kind of trouble. Plus, seeing that he is the son of Satan, and wants to become an exorcist, how could it be any boring, right?!

His brother – Yukio – is kind of a sexy geek. He is really cool too and slightly unpredictable. And finally, I just have to mention that there is a character that looks quite like the Mad Hatter (if you read it, tell me if you feel the same way!).

I really enjoyed the art. It was extremely detailed but also somehow a bit wild and very expressive. I’m definitely a fan of it.

Look at that amount of detail! Doesn’t it look awesome?!

In conclusion, I really recommend this manga if you enjoy manga (obviously) and if you enjoy supernatural stuff. I think it’s really interesting and I am extremely excited to see Rin’s next adventure.

Have you seen or read Blue Exorcist?

    • I haven’t had much time to read it now, so I am only in the second book (sigh). But I saw all the anime long ago and as soon as I end the manga I think I will watch it again 😛 I love that it has a dark side to it and the main character is so short tempered… If you decide to either read it or see it, hope you enjoy! 😀

    • I saw all the anime too and loved it but I can’t remember the end anymore so I decided to read the manga 😛 And I have to say that is exactly the same so far. I always remember while I read it but I still want to see the anime again after I end the books 😛 I love Rin. He is so cool! And is personality is so well done in the anime too!

  2. I saw the anime a few years ago as well. I’ve also read some of the manga. Perhaps 6 volumes? I can’t remember exactly. Also, i think there is a second season to the anime now.
