This is probably one of the best looking graphic novels I’ve seen so far, and one that I literally feel like needing to read the first moment I got my hands on it. I’m not that much of a fan of graphic novels, I much prefer manga but this was amazing!

So, basically, this book is about Gertrude. She had the luck to be taken to Fairyland. The only thing is that she doesn’t want to be there… So, to go home, with Larry’s help (her new sidekick), she has to find the key to her world, which shouldn’t take that long… Well, 27 years passed. She is now a grownup woman in the body of a child and she is completely losing it! She will now do everything to get the key, and I mean EVERYTHING.

But other than that she is still the cutest character! Meet Gertrude:

Isn’t she the cutest?! Look at her with that severed head… ADORABLE! She is known for her patience, respect, sweetness, affectioness (does that exist??), and all those good things! She is the most adorable and well-tempered child you will meet! She would never think of hurting a soul… Or all of them… She would never swear or kill everyone in front of her. Gertie is way too sweet for that! Things just somehow end up dying and disappearing from her path… Nothing to do with our sweet girl!

And this is Larry. He’s her guide to find the key to her world. He is always up to help her in everything he can! He is always upbeat, helpful and happy to be with Gertie! Nothing sarcastic ever comes from his mouth. He is pure jolly fun! I mean, look at him, don’t you think?! Cutest sidekick ever!

There might be some blood and violence… I mean.. Occasionally, on every page. But, the swear words were replaced by something cute like – fluff my life – so that makes it already cute and inoffensive, right?

Okay… Now for real, this book might not be ideal for children, but it is a hell of a book and I loved it!
This book is quite dark, clever and astonishingly humouristic. It’s literally a LOT of fun to read it and it’s completely my style! It’s gruesome (which is always a plus and this is the first graphic novel I’ve seen like this), it has an interesting and addicting story and the artwork is AMAZING!!!
The artwork is literally fantastic. It’s full of color and details both in the drawings and in the text, which is not as common, I believe. I will definitely continue reading the series and I would totally recommend especially if you like cutsie things, and rainbows and sprinkles (turned into gruesome glory). Then this is for you!
