I’m finally doing my Fairyloot unboxing! This month’s theme was Save the Kingdom and this month, it contains some really different items! FairyLoot is an amazing YA bookish subscription box that I would highly recommend getting.
To be honest, I had no idea what this month’s box was going to have… I totally forgot it was going to contain a book sleeve so… The only thing I was thinking of was the book, which I had an idea of what it was going to be but that’s about it. It was a bit of a surprise, and the last box is still my favorite, but I think this was pretty good too!
If you wanna check out what this box included, just keep reading! I will show photos of the items, information on them and some of my thoughts!
Save The Kingdom – May 2018
So this is all the box included. Now for each item…
This month’s book is Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett. This month’s cover is the same as the original one but it contains black sprayed pages all around!
Here’s the synopsis:
They call her Traitor Kate. It’s a title Kate Brighton inherited from her father after he tried to assassinate the high king years ago. Now Kate lives as an outcast, clinging to the fringes of society as a member of the Relay, the imperial courier service. Only those most skilled in riding and bow hunting ride for the Relay; and only the fastest survive, for when dark falls, the nightdrakes—deadly flightless dragons—come out to hunt. Fortunately, Kate has a secret edge: she is a wilder, born with magic that allows her to influence the minds of animals. But it’s this magic that she needs to keep hidden, as being a wilder is forbidden, punishable by death or exile. And it’s this magic that leads her to a caravan massacred by nightdrakes in broad daylight—the only survivor her childhood friend, her first love, the boy she swore to forget, the boy who broke her heart.
The high king’s second son, Corwin Tormane, never asked to lead. Even as he waits for the uror—the once-in-a-generation ritual to decide which of the king’s children will succeed him—he knows it’s always been his brother who will assume the throne. And that’s fine by him. He’d rather spend his days away from the palace, away from the sight of his father, broken with sickness from the attempt on his life. But the peacekeeping tour Corwin is on has given him too much time to reflect upon the night he saved his father’s life—the night he condemned the would-be killer to death and lost the girl he loved. Which is why he takes it on himself to investigate rumors of unrest in one of the remote city-states, only for his caravan to be attacked—and for him to be saved by Kate.
With their paths once more entangled, Kate and Corwin have to put the past behind them. The threat of drakes who attack in the daylight is only the beginning of a darker menace stirring in the kingdom—one whose origins have dire implications for Kate’s father’s attack upon the king and will thrust them into the middle of a brewing civil war in the kingdom of Rime.
As for the other items…
With the book, we got a super pretty, “cover like” letter from the author and a signed bookplate. Also, behind the letter, there’s an amazing artwork of Kate and Corwin from the book of the month! (you can see it in the next photo). Also, can you see the black sprayed edges of the book?!
We were also supposed to get a sticker inspired by the book, but it wasn’t included in my box, so I’m still waiting for it! >.< I’ve seen they are random tho. There’s at least a red one saying Pyrist, a green one saying Earthist, and a brown one saying Aerist.
The artwork I was speaking of, that is in the back of the letter from the author, it’s the one on the right and it was designed by Emily Haynes. Isn’t it gorgeous?! I can’t wait to meet the characters! I also tend to love the artwork of the theme cards and the matching bookmark!
We also got an exclusive Weapon Coaster designed by Evie Bookish, with a quote from The Winners Trilogy by Marie Rutoski – “You are your own best weapon.” It’s super pretty and I love that it somehow goes together with the color scheme of the last one they included in a box!
As two bonus items, we got a random Legendary Tarot Card and a Smoke in the Sun bookmark!
Next, we got a super exclusive Remnant Vegan Lip Scrub done by Geeky Clean! I love their stuff and this one is not an exception. It’s inspired by The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson. You could get any of three types (each kingdom): Morrighan (berry flavor), Venda or Dalbreck (melon flavor)! I got Venda and it smells like lemon!
We also got some exclusive Wyrd Mark Page Flags by Fictiontea Designs. They are inspired by the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas! You have four styles of flags:
- blue: “By the wyrd!”
- yellow: “Epic Quote!”
- green: “Swoooon!”
- reddish: “Plot Twist!”
And lastly, in this photo, you can see that we also got some tea! This is a Save the Kingdom Tea and it was designed by The Tea Leaf Co. and it’s an English Breakfast Tea.
And finally… My fav items!! We got a new amazing exclusive Fear Book Sleeve designed by Reverie & Ink. It contains a quote from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir and it’s BEAUTIFUL!! The colors are so freaking pretty!
And lastly, we got a SUPER pretty and exclusive Norgard Vegan Bath Bomb created by Little Hearts Gifts. It’s inspired by the book of the month and it says Kingdom of Rime. The bath bomb, as you can see, is a beautiful castle and it’s full of sparkles! I can’t point out what it smells like but it’s really fresh, a bit like fresh laundry with a hint of perfume?
Here’s another overall view of the items:
This box was once again amazing! It contained some items I was definitely not expecting and I absolutely loved most of all the book sleeve, I only had one so far and it’s got to change sometimes 😛
The next month’s theme will be…
Rebels in Ballgowns
This month they said we are actually getting a July release! So we are going to get it ahead of time! It’s supposed to be an addictive feminist fantasy, so I’m excited about it! We will also get goodies themed by Legendary, Shatter Me, The Selection and Nevernight!
For more information on that box, you can check it out here. The boxes are now available!
When they are sold out, you can still get some at the beginning of each month tho (normally day 3). If you missed them, don’t worry! Each box is amazing and I’m sure you will be as happy with the next one as you would with this one! Also, make sure you check out their Instagram, they always post there the new themes!
I hope you guys enjoyed this unboxing! They are always super fun to make because I love editing and taking photos, which I hope you enjoy; and I love showing what’s inside these amazing boxes!
