So… I haven’t done a book haul in a while, but I haven’t bought enough books to do a proper one in the past months other than some pre-orders so I waited to do one more near my birthday…
This is a book haul from both May and June (my Birthday).
This is my first book haul of the year! I have been pretty good in terms of buying books and have controlled myself, with the exception of May and some on my birthday, because why not, right?!
Wanna see what I got? Just keep reading!
Here are all the books I got (and already arrived):
These two books I got from my boyfriend. I’ve heard amazing things about the books illustrated by Minalina and I’ve wanted to buy The Jungle Book, ever since I read the manga classic of it, so I really thought this would be an amazing present! I’ve been also dying to have the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets… Honestly, I just want them all!! Plus he got me an Aladdin Funko Pop! I wanted it So freaking much! Isn’t he beautiful?!
These were the ones I got from my mom and that I chose. These are the classics I’ve been really wanting to get to, especially these beautiful editions! The Bronte sisters bind-up contains one book from each sister: Jane Eyre, which I’ve read and own; Wuthering Heights which I really want to get to; and finally Agnes Grey.
And these are the only non-classics I got from my mom. Circe, I believe, is historical fiction and I’m incredibly excited for it, and Undead Girl Gang seems super cute and fun!
I also got as a present from my mom the Owlcrate boxes for May and June, which are my first ever! I’ve only tried Fairyloot before and I love it so I’m super excited to get some Owlcrate ones!
The May theme was “Fight Like a Girl”, of which you can see my review here, and the June theme is “Summer Lovin’!”. I am super excited for both the themes and the books they include!
Also, I got myself so cute bookish candles that smell amazing:
- Cabeswater Soy Candle by BookishBurns
- Weep (7oz jar) – Strange the Dreamer Scented Soy Candle by BookAndNook
- Raven Cycle – Raven Boys Inspired (2oz) Set by KoolandCo
I haven’t read any of these yet but the first two books have been in my TBR for quite a long while! Plus, it was just the perfect time to buy The Archived Collection because it’s being released as a bindup – it contains The Archive and The Unbound – on 14 Aug 2018. This one, I haven’t included in the pre-order section because technically the books are out already… The Song of Achilles is a book that has been talked about a lot and since I’m a fan of mythology, I decided to give it a try! As for the last two, I just recently heard good things about them and they seemed like something I would enjoy so, why not!
These ones are all contemporary books. The first three are getting out in paperback recently so I decided to pre-order them because they sound awesome! Under Rose Tainted Skies, I’ve heard great things about it and summer seems like the perfect moment to read it! As for Allegedly, I’ve been wanting to read it for quite a long time and it came out in paperback not long ago, so I finally got it! This one is a mix between a contemporary and a thriller/mystery!
I loved An Ember in the Ashes when it first came out but I never got the second one, when I noticed the third was going to take ages to come out. But it’s finally happening so I got it and I already re-read the first one and am going to the second one this month!
Ship It is a book I needed to get after seeing the amazing naked version of it! Under the dust jacket, it has some amazing art and I just couldn’t hold myself back from getting it! Aru Shah and the End of Time is a book that I’ve been dying to read and I hadn’t been able to get my hands on yet. Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy is a book I needed because I’ve been participating in a Shadowhunter marathon and this was the only one I was missing, so I got it now!
And as for the last book, back in May, I finally got my hands on The Count of Monte Cristo! I’m so terribly happy to finally read it in English (I read it in PT when I was younger but I just never really love PT translations as much). I’ve never owned it before but it’s one of my fav stories and I recently found a Brasilian youtuber (Nuvem Literária por Ju Cirqueira) doing a buddy read of it, so I decided to read it with them too, but in English.
And last but not least, these are the three graphic novels I got and I’m super excited about! I’ve read half of Anya’s Ghost and decided to get it, and I’ve read In Real Life not long ago. As for Persepolis, this edition was pretty cheap and I heard good things about it. Plus, it seems like a very different read.
Books I read as ARCs and bought
I don’t buy all the ARCs I read, but the ones I like the most I do so… These are all books I loved and gave 4 to 5 stars to. They are great reads and I would absolutely recommend them!
This is where I always tend to lose control… There’s just so many good books coming out this year!! But this time I’ve been buying a bit slower because we never know what our fav bookish boxes will bring, right? So, not in any particular order, these are the books I pre-ordered:
So, I pre-ordered City of Ghosts because I’ve been enjoying middle-grade lately and this one is by Victoria Schwab and it has ghosts – I had to buy it… plus look at the kitty on the cover!! I really enjoyed the previous books in the DC Icons series and I had to get Catwoman: Soulstealer, especially being written by Sarah J. Maas!
A Reaper at the Gates is the third installment on the An Ember in the Ashes series, and since I’m re-reading the first and continuing with the series, I pre-ordered the third one already. As for Wildcard, it’s the sequel to Warcross, which I absolutely loved and need to read the sequel!
Queen of Air and Darkness is only coming out in December but I’m sure I will read it by then, so I decided to get it, even tho I haven’t started Lady Midnight…
These ones are all sequels I’ve been absolutely dying to read. They are some of my fav series and I can’t wait to get my hands on them!!
And lastly, I also got Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow, which is the second book is the Nevermoor “series?”, but sadly, it doesn’t have a cover yet.
What about you guys? What books did you get that you are super excited to get to? Have you got/read any of these ones? Comment down below!
