When the Shadowhunter Academy reopens, Simon throws himself into this new world of demon-hunting, determined to find himself again. Whomever this Simon might be… Join him on his journey to become a Shadowhunter, and learn about the Academy’s illustrious history along the way, through guest lecturers such as Jace Herondale, Tessa Gray, and Magnus Bane. The series features characters from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments, Infernal Devices, Dark Artifices and the upcoming Last Hours series.

Captura de ecrã 2017-06-30, às 18.09.21This book is all about Simon and his journey to become a shadowhunter after the end of TMI. I really liked Simon and so I needed to read this. I’m quite excited also because, to be honest, we don’t really know their journey from the start, and hopefully, here we can see that. But we will also get to meet some characters we love from the last books!

The short stories

Welcome to Shadowhunter Academy – This was actually a lot of fun. Simon is and has always been a really funny person, and the story had just his same vibe to it, you know? Plus, some of the new characters are amazing! It wasn’t very action-y, or anything really but it was emotional and a super fun and interesting story! I didn’t expect to love it this much at all…

Overall:  4.5 stars

The Lost Herondale – This was pretty good too. I’m starting to really enjoy his adventures and especially his friends! I also loved learning about Tobias Herondale and how he came to be, it was such a bittersweet but interesting little story!

Overall:  3 stars

The Whitechapel Fiend – Well, that was interesting… It was especially awesome to see Simon and Jace together. Also, TID characters are the freaking best, they have always been my favorites and it’s always amazing to know more about them! Also, that end was freaking funny!

Overall:  3 stars

Nothing but Shadows – This one was freaking awesome! It’s basically about the children of characters we know from the previous books. I loved to see the beginning of a shadowhunter in school and I freaking adore James!! This was the best until now. I loved seeing James trying to fit in and trying to understand who he is. I especially love James and Matthew together! Not much Simon in this one, but I loved it!

Overall:  5 stars

The Evil We Love – Loved reading more about the Circle! I really liked to know more about Robert and the time he was in the Circle. I’m also really enjoying reading about Simon at the Academy. I really like Simon and Izzy together, and from what I can see there’s hope! Hurray!

Overall:  4 stars

Pale Kings and Princes – Finally more Simon and Izzy! I really liked seeing more of them and also, I love Helen! I hope we get to see more of her because she is an awesome character and she deserves some love! Also, that end? Wow.

Overall:  4 stars

Bitter of Tongue – I didn’t care as much for this one… I think Mark’s story is really touching and sad and I did like to know more about the Blackthorn family. But I guess I just wanted a bit more from it… Overall it just wasn’t anywhere near as good as some others.

Overall:  2 stars

The Fiery Trial – This one was better but still… I liked to know more about the Parabatai bond and especially Emma and Julian! I love them incredibly much! As for Clary, she has never been a fav character of mine, but I am happy how things are turning out.

Overall:  3 stars

Born to Endless Night – With every story I like George more and more! He is just so cute! Also, this was the freaking cutest story ever! I absolutely loved all the characters in it and how sweet and beautiful it was. It felt really different from the last ones but just as amazing!

Overall:  5 stars

Angels Twice Descending – THIS WAS AWESOME. I really loved this story, it was quite bittersweet and emotional and I just care even more for these characters! Simon turned out to be an amazing character and I hope to see more of him as a shadowhunter because I believe he is going to be the most honest and fair of them all.

Overall:  5 stars

I wasn’t expecting much from this book, but it surprised me immensely with how much I loved it. It was in my opinion way better than the Magnus Bane one, which left me awestruck! If you like this world and these characters, this is a book you will most definitely enjoy and I would recommend reading!
