Beautiful Deceptions – October 2018
So this is all the box included. Now for each item…
This month’s book is Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. We got a signed edition with sprayed pages!
Here’s the synopsis:
Each year, eight beautiful girls are chosen as Paper Girls to serve the king. It’s the highest honor they could hope for…and the most cruel.
But this year, there’s a ninth girl. And instead of paper, she’s made of fire.
In this lush fantasy, Lei is a member of the Paper caste, the lowest and most oppressed class in Ikhara. She lives in a remote village with her father, where the decade-old trauma of watching her mother snatched by royal guards still haunts her. Now, the guards are back, and this time it’s Lei they’re after–the girl whose golden eyes have piqued the king’s interest.
Over weeks of training in the opulent but stifling palace, Lei and eight other girls learn the skills and charm that befit being a king’s consort. But Lei isn’t content to watch her fate consume her. Instead, she does the unthinkable–she falls in love. Her forbidden romance becomes enmeshed with an explosive plot that threatens the very foundation of Ikhara, and Lei, still the wide-eyed country girl at heart, must decide just how far she’s willing to go for justice and revenge.
TW: violence and sexual abuse.
As for the other items…
With the book, we got a beautiful illustration on the other side of the letter from the author. It actually makes me intrigued by the book! Also, we got a postcard with the cover of the book in it.
Also, here is the book signed and the letter from the author!
Also, the pages are sprayed with NEON pink! It looks SO BEAUTIFUL!
We received two wearable items in this box! One is this beautiful Mourners Beanie inspired by Six of Crows that says “No Mourners, No Funerals”. It’s gorgeous and super good quality! This was designed by Fiction Tea Designs.
And a pair of Deceptive Queen Socks inspired by Red Queen. I’ve yet to read this series, but the socks look really cool with the blood and this one was designed by FairyLoot.
Here’s how the back of the beanie looks and the socks open.
Next, we got some Wren’s Secrets Tea made by The Tea Leaf Company. It is a mix of peppermint and green tea and it was inspired by one of the characters from the book included in this box!
Also, we got an Aelin Candle inspired by The Throne of Glass series that says “Aelin Ashryver Galathynius” and it smells like lemon verbena and fire. It’s a really soft and pleasant smell, and it was created by Nerd Poured Candles.
We also got a beautiful Stories Keychain designed by KDP Letters. It was inspired by The Winners Curse and it’s the most beautiful keychain I’ve ever seen!
Next, we got some Grisha Pin Badges Set as a bonus item!
Here’s a more detailed photo of the keychain! It says “Isn’t that what stories do, make real things fake & fake things real?”.
Next, we got a Faerie Deck of Cards. This was inspired by The Cruel Prince. The art is done by Emily Haynes in collaboration with Fiction Tea Designs. They look beautiful and it’s such a unique item! plus we got three character’s cards with it!
Here’s the back of it! Even the back looks amazing.
As some bonus items, we got one Poppy Wars bookmark and a Sawkill Girls postcard.
Also, in this box, we got the correct item from August’s Fairyloot!
Here’s another overall view of the items:
This box was pretty cool. I loved the beanie and the keychain the most! Also, the book looks amazing with sprayed pages!
Next month’s theme will be…
This theme is all about epic battles and galactic adventures! It’s been too long since our last Sci-Fi themed box and we can already promise you that it was worth the wait!
This box features items inspired by Illuminae, The Lunar Chronicles, Red Rising and Shakespeare. There will be a whopping SEVEN items (none of which are paper-based!). We wish we could tell you more, but all we can reveal for now is that the items are a fantastic mix of themed goodies.
Sci-Fi books usually aren’t everyone’s thing, but if there was ever a book to read as your first YA Sci-Fi adventure this would be it − it’s so incredibly AMAZING! Imagine How To Train Your Dragon set in space, but instead of a dragon there’s a talking space ship (who is absolutely hilarious). This book is written by a very famous fantasy author, and we’re so thrilled to be featuring his book this month.
If you are located in the USA or Canada, you will receive a copy of this book with a signed bookplate stuck in. If you are not in the USA or Canada, you will receive a book with sprayed edges. Everyone will get a letter from the author. Both editions are so stunning that we cannot wait for you to see them!
We are thrilled to tell you that everyone that orders this box will also get access to a free eBook! This is an independently published book with glowing reviews.
We will reveal suppliers and hints about this box on social media – stay tuned!
For more information on that box, you can check it out here. The boxes are now available!
When they are sold out, you can still get some at the beginning of each month tho (normally day 3). If you missed them, don’t worry! Each box is amazing and I’m sure you will be as happy with the next one as you would with this one! Also, make sure you check out their Instagram, they always post there the new themes!
I hope you guys enjoyed this unboxing!
