In a kingdom by the sea…

In a secret world where half-angel warriors are sworn to fight demons, parabatai is a sacred word.

A parabatai is your partner in battle. A parabatai is your best friend. Parabatai can be everything to each other—but they can never fall in love.

Emma Carstairs is a warrior, a Shadowhunter, and the best in her generation. She lives for battle. Shoulder to shoulder with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, she patrols the streets of Los Angeles, where vampires party on the Sunset Strip, and faeries—the most powerful of supernatural creatures—teeter on the edge of open war with Shadowhunters. When the bodies of humans and faeries turn up murdered in the same way Emma’s parents were when she was a child, an uneasy alliance is formed. This is Emma’s chance for revenge—and Julian’s chance to get back his brother Mark, who is being held prisoner by the faerie Courts. All Emma, Mark, and Julian have to do is solve the murders within two weeks…and before the murderer targets them.

Their search takes Emma from sea caves full of sorcery to a dark lottery where death is dispensed. And each clue she unravels uncovers more secrets. What has Julian been hiding from her all these years? Why does Shadowhunter Law forbid parabatai to fall in love? Who really killed her parents—and can she bear to know the truth?

The darkly magical world of Shadowhunters has captured the imaginations of millions of readers across the globe. Join the adventure in Lady Midnight, the long-awaited first volume of a new trilogy from Cassandra Clare.

Captura de ecrã 2017-06-30, às 18.09.21This was one of the best shadowhunter stories so far! I absolutely loved everything about it!

This story was way more interesting than I expected. Basically, we have Emma trying to find what happened to her parents, we know from last books that they were killed, but no one seems to know why and no one seems to be keen on learning either – except her. So she and the Blackthorns end up trying to figure out everything on their own, which ends up into a much more complicated scene than they ever expected, which will put everyone in danger. It’s basically awesome, dark and action-packed!

The characters in this book are freaking awesome! I love them all! I love how strong of a character Emma is, she is fiery and passionate and she would do anything for her now-family. I love how lost and different Mark is, he has suffered a lot and lived a completely different life from anyone in his family and so he is quite different from them, and I love his way of talking and thinking – and how kind of a cute puppy he is! Julian is like the cutest, most sincere, strong and reliable character EVER. He has been shouldering so much and yet he never complained or even showed it. He would do anything for his brothers and sisters and it’s the sweetest thing to watch! As well as how freaking adorable all the tiny little kids are, especially Ty! He is such a cutie! He has autism, but not once his family tries to change him, even tho the Clave is a complete ass in regards to it and anything that is different, like half-feys. He is perfect just like he is, and in my opinion, the representation is done incredibly well!

Also, Emma and Julian are the best parabatai ever! Well, almost. But they are amazing together! They work so well together, they know each other like no one else does and they would do anything for each other. There’s only one problem really, that chemistry there, that I love? Well… Not quite parabatai like… (I FREAKING LOVE THEM TOGETHER!)

As for the world, it’s never boring to enter! It continues to amaze me to no end, and it’s just such a beautiful, dangerous world! How could I not love it?! We meet a lot of new characters in this book and to my surprise, I loved them all, especially Cristina! She is freaking awesome!! As well as some well-loved characters that stopped by and made me incredibly happy to meet again!

This book is full of surprises, the writing also keeps getting better and more gripping and I loved every bit of it! But… I am So not sure about that end! As in characters wise, I’m loving the story, but alas, sometimes good characters can be so stupid! I will for sure continue with this series because I HAVE to know what the hell is going to happen…

I’ve heard a lot of people say the series gets better, and it is true, it does really get better! TMI was not the best thing ever but the last two books were amazing and TID is perfection, and I believe this one is going to be just as good or better! I would for sure recommend it – entering this amazing world!

  1. This is probably my favorite SH book. Kind of an unpopular opinion, since I know that many would prefer TID (and possibly TMI). But I just love the “forbidden romance” trope. I feel like this story is going somewhere readers may not expect. I’m honestly looking forward to it! There’s so many theories out there and I can feel the hype. 🙈
