Eli Ever and Victor Vale were only medical students when their mutual discovery that near-death experiences can, under the right conditions, manifest extraordinary abilities.

They were best friends, and rivals, and then enemies. They were dead, then alive, and then—Eli killed Victor, once and for all.

Or so he thought—but Sydney Clarke felt otherwise, and used her own superpower to tip the scales. Now, a trio hides in the shadows, while another takes advantages of post-death life to take over the city of Merit.

If there can be life after death—will there be calm after vengeance, or will chaos rule?

Captura de ecrã 2017-06-30, às 18.09.21I was both afraid and excited about this book. On one side I really wanted to see more of this world and especially Syd! But I was also a bit afraid it was going to be a pointless addition to an already amazing standalone… Well, this was indeed awesome!

This book picks up some years after the end of Vicious, and we see the repercussions of that end… In this book we see Victor trying to figure out what’s happening to him, and their journey to continue undetected by a group trying to find EOs. I loved seeing Victor, Mitch, and Syd – plus, of course, Doll – as a family, and although it’s quite a weird and uncommon one, no one can deny their love for each other! But their life is about to get quite difficult. Again.

As for the new characters, we have some really cool ones! Starting with the darkest one, Marcella, it was as difficult to love her as it was to hate her. The thing about both Vicious and Vengeful is that each character has their own obsession for revenge, and often it’s quite understandable! Marcella was no different, but she was especially consumed by revenge and by power, which made her, to me, an awesome character!

We also get to see Eli in this book, and his life after he got arrested. His scenes were some of the most vicious ones here, and I loved it! So gruesome and dark, and well, we all saw it coming at some point, right?! His scenes were extremely impactful and I actually fell for him…

As for the powers, they continue to surprise and amaze me. They are so well done and interesting! My fav is probably Jude’s, she is a new character that has the power to change appearance. And I mean, 100% change appearance. It just looks so freaking cool!

The world is one of the darkest and most realistic ones. It’s extremely unique and intense and full of action, death, and of course vengeance. We have some awesome villains that are not that villain-y, and you get to understand and really feel them. It was quite stressful and gruesome at times and I was terribly afraid of reaching the end of it! But oh… I loved it!

I absolutely loved this book and how things turned out. I also loved how my fav character didn’t change much, but I was still able to see that they grew quite a lot, if you know what I mean. This is an amazing world full of powers that you wouldn’t like to miss!
