I had high hopes for it, and I’m over the moon about the fact that it did not disappoint one bit! This is a truly incredibly unique and fascinating world and I loved every moment in it!

This book continues where the first one left off. After ending the trials in book 1, we get to know better the ones that passed and that are now part of Unit 919. They are now a group under oath to be like a family, which is everything Morrigan ever wanted. Except, things don’t go exactly like that for Morrigan. On one side, everyone that knows her knack is not happy about it, to the point of being even afraid, and that goes to teacher and friends alike. On the other side, the ones that don’t know about her knack tend to try and take it out of her. She is treated differently by anyone for one reason or another, with the exception of a few close friends.

I absolutely love the character in this book, although they are young, it doesn’t give that annoying vibe some middle-grade books give, which makes it more suitable for children and adults alike. They are easy to connect with, relatable, realistic and really exciting! I absolutely fell in love with a lot of them, and of course, with our amazing main character, that only continues to surprise me! We have also Hawthorne, Jupiter and Jack whom we know from the last book and whom I love. I think each character is incredibly unique and well developed and I just find myself really caring for them. And to top it off, I also really enjoyed Cadence, she has become such a strong amazing character!

Another thing I love about this book is how unexpected and exciting it is! It’s even more exciting than the first one and in my opinion, the first one already blew my mind. I’m never able to see anything coming, which is uncommon for me since this is a middle-grade book. The world is incredible, full of possibilities, darkness and a lot of magic – and I can’t wait to see more of it!

This series has everything I hoped and more, and I highly recommend it! I can’t wait for book 3, which I believe there has to be a book 3, right?
