Sunny Los Angeles can be a dark place indeed in Cassandra Clare’s Lord of Shadows, the sequel to the #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling Lady Midnight. Lord of Shadows is a Shadowhunters novel.

Emma Carstairs has finally avenged her parents. She thought she’d be at peace. But she is anything but calm. Torn between her desire for her parabatai Julian and her desire to protect him from the brutal consequences of parabatai relationships, she has begun dating his brother, Mark. But Mark has spent the past five years trapped in Faerie; can he ever truly be a Shadowhunter again?

And the faerie courts are not silent. The Unseelie King is tired of the Cold Peace, and will no longer concede to the Shadowhunters’ demands. Caught between the demands of faerie and the laws of the Clave, Emma, Julian, and Mark must find a way to come together to defend everything they hold dear—before it’s too late.

This book is incredible and terribly emotional and I have no idea what to do with myself. And yet it’s the best Shadowhunter book so far! This just keeps getting better and better and I’m so deeply invested in these characters! Plus, this follows Lady Midnight and the plot couldn’t be more surprising and more action-packed than it is!

There wasn’t one boring moment and yet there was a lot of character development, which I dearly loved! Especially because I believe the soul of these books is the characters! I wasn’t such a big fan of the TMI main characters, but I just love the main characters and overall tons of characters in this book! There are just so many great ones, and we get to know some of them a lot better!

The Blackthorn family is the most adorable thing in the world and I deeply adore them all. Especially Ty and Liv, they are just so precious! I got to see a lot more of them here and I loved every minute of it. I love their relationship and how unique they are, plus I love to see Kit with them and all the adventures and trouble they put themselves through. Another character we are getting to slowly know better is Drew, but I’m not sure yet what to think of her…

Jules is the soul of the family and I love him with all my heart. He does everything for them and he is just so sweet and caring. He is so strong and yet so soft… Plus, I love him with Emma, who is the best freaking girl EVER. She is the boldest, fieriest and most loyal person and she would do anything for the Blackthorns. Also, I loved knowing more about Christina and Diana, they are two amazing characters and I really love them, and can’t wait to read more about them!

This book is incredible and much better than the first ones, the writing and the pacing are just amazing and it’s kinda interesting to see the difference to the first books. This is a super addicting series and it’s impossible to put down! It’s for sure a world worth knowing! Also, I’m finally caught up with the Shadowhunters books! Go Me! ^^

  1. Glad you liked Lord of Shadows? I bet it feels great to have read all of them! ( I still have to read The Bane Chronicles, and Tales of Shadowhunter Academy, but the dark artifices-wise, I’m ready for Queen Of Air And Darkness! )
