Owlcrate December 2018 Unboxing

Hey guys! I’ve missed the November Owlcrate, but here’s an unboxing of the December box!! The theme is Power of Illusions!

Owlcrate is an amazing YA bookish subscription box that I would highly recommend getting. Plus, if you live in Europe like me, it still arrives incredibly fast and somehow  (for me) it doesn’t get more expensive than any other box coming from Europe – although obviously, it changes from country to country…

If you wanna check out what this box included, just keep reading! I will show photos of all the items, information on them and some of my thoughts!

Power of Illusions – December 2018

So this is all the box included! Now for each item…

This month’s book is Amber & Dusk by Lyra Selene. The cover that came is an exclusive Owlcrate edition that you can see in the photo below and the one on the left is the original one.

Here’s the synopsis:

Sylvie has always known she deserves more. Out in the permanent twilight of the Dusklands, her guardians called her power to create illusions a curse. But Sylvie knows it gives her a place in Coeur d’Or, the palais of the Amber Empress and her highborn legacies.

So Sylvie sets off toward the Amber City, a glittering jewel under a sun that never sets, to take what is hers.

But her hope for a better life is quickly dimmed. The empress invites her in only as part of a wicked wager among her powerful courtiers. Sylvie must assume a new name, Mirage, and begin to navigate secretive social circles and deadly games of intrigue in order to claim her spot. Soon it becomes apparent that nothing is as it appears and no one, including her cruel yet captivating sponsor, Sunder, will answer her questions. As Mirage strives to assume what should be her rightful place, she’ll have to consider whether it is worth the price she must pay.

  1. Love the look of this box, but I’m even more curious to see what this month’s box will be like! I know exactly what book will be in it, haha. I didn’t order one, since shipping to the EU is.. eh. [As you probably know, haha] I rather stick to my FairyLoot, although I don’t have a CLUE what book’s in that one this month? I forgot the theme.. Should check.. Oops.
In any case, if the cover of this month’s book is worth it, I might just try and get my hands on a copy after all. 😀

    • Actually, for where I live Owlcrate ends up being a tiny bit cheaper than Fairyloot, not by much tho. I think I know what book both boxes will bring next month and do hope they are different too! I do love the special covers >.< I tried to stick with only one box, because of the prices but every time they announce a theme, I always end up wanting them all –‘

      • Then you’re lucky, haha. OwlCrate’s shipping is a bit too much for my liking so I only succumb when I.. really have to.. [Like The Wicked King-box. I NEEDED THAT.]
I don’t think they’re the same! If it’s the book I think it is, I already read an ARC and it only fits one of the themes of the boxes, not both of them. Unless I’m sorely mistaken and forgot half of what I read or something, haha.
Truth be told, I try not checking out the themes of boxes since it’s too tempting to buy them all every month. :’)
