The first volume in J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic adventure THE LORD OF THE RINGS

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

Captura de ecrã 2017-06-30, às 18.09.21I’ve loved The Lord of the Rings movies for as long as I can remember, but I’ve never previously read the books. One of the reasons being they are ginormous! But, I’m extremely happy to finally be able to say I read the first one!

I read the Hobbit for the first time this year and I really enjoyed it, and that’s one of the reasons that made me go for this one. They are in my opinion quite different tho. This is way more complex and even the writing is slightly different, and if possible, even better. Which is one of the things I most love in these books!

I absolutely love how exciting and dark this world is and I LOVE the characters in it, especially the Fellowship of the Ring. They are such an incredible group! One of my personal favorites has to be Sam. Hobbits are just the most adorable, kind and honest folk ever! And he is the sweetest among them! He is just so loyal and caring, and I love how much he would give for his friends and for Frodo!

Also, another part I loved was Tom Bombadil. It’s such a fun part! I loved everything about him, especially how kind and peculiar he is! I also have quite some love for Gimli, I think he is extremely cool and I love how strong a personality he has! Aragorn and Legolas are another two I’m a big fan of. They are incredible and they would do anything for the others. And obviously, I have to mention Frodo. I really liked him as a character too. You can feel he really is trying to do his best even tho he has so many doubts about being able to succeed. I think he is a really strong character and I can’t wait to see more of his journey!

Another fantastic thing in this book is how the world is so vivid and different from place to place. I love the Shire incredibly much, it gives a sense of peace… But Rivendell is just gorgeous and so magical! The world is absolutely fantastic and it’s only getting darker.

I really love the sense of friendship and comradeship in this book. It’s quite different from the Hobbit, like I said, but that’s one of the things that maintains and that makes me love it. Also, this book is a lot more vivid and intense, which is always a plus. There was tons of action and danger, and I can’t wait to read the next book! I can already sense how much darker it’s gonna become and I’m all for it!
