Dark secrets and forbidden love threaten the very survival of the Shadowhunters in Cassandra Clare’s Queen of Air and Darkness, the final novel in the #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling The Dark Artifices trilogy.
What if damnation is the price of true love?
Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks.
Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.
This is my absolute favorite series so far, and believe me, I love the TMI! But I just got so attached to these characters! This book was such an amazing intense trip, full of surprises, tension and a lot of battles!
This series is one of the most emotional ones. It’s full of sad, heart-breaking moments that I can’t ever forget. Plus, the Blackthorns are the most incredible family I’ve read about. There are so much grief and sorrow surrounding them, you can’t help but want to cuddle them all. Especially because all they ever deserved was nothing but goodness… I’ve talked about them in my past reviews but this book made me fall for them even more, I especially loved getting to know Dru, who we didn’t know as much about before. She is such a great character! Well, to be honest, the whole family is hell sweet, strong and inspiring. I just can’t ever talk enough about them!
But there are a lot more characters in this books worth talking about. This series is incredibly complete, gripping and INTENSE! And this book was no exception. It was full of mystery, betrayals, love, loss, and blood, and I lived for it! I wasn’t sure where everything was gonna go with the first book. The second broke my heart and although I’m still heart-broken (I don’t think anything can mend that… RIP), I’m at least very pleased and excited after reading this book. And that end…. What the freaking hell??!
Another thing I love about this book is the amount of diversity that exists in it. It’s perfect! It doesn’t feel forced and it’s incredibly endearing! Everything feels just… Real and it just makes you feel all types of emotions! Plus it has some of the best couples ever – aka Alec and Magnus. But also Emma and Julian, Helen and Aline, Mark and Quieran (trying not to spoil anything here tho, if you know what I mean… But absolutely loved them ALL), Gwyn and his lady (once again not saying much here), Clary and Jace, and so many others!!! I just love all the romance in it because it feels incredibly natural and just beautiful!
The thing about this world is that it’s extremely addictive and somehow realistic (probably not the right word? But, in a way I guess it is realistic) and I just want to know everything in it and continue to make believe that I’m part of it, sigh… I love everything about this series and I can’t recommend it enough! These are some worthy bricks to read!
