Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…?
Charlie Spring is in Year 10 at Truham Grammar School for Boys. The past year hasn’t been too great, but at least he’s not being bullied anymore. Nick Nelson is in Year 11 and on the school rugby team. He’s heard a little about Charlie – the kid who was outed last year and bullied for a few months – but he’s never had the opportunity to talk to him.
They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and sometimes good things are waiting just around the corner…
Heartstopper is a Young Adult LGBTQ+ graphic novel series about Charlie and Nick, two boys that go to a British all-boys grammar school. They meet in Form Class and become close friends after that. Charlie is already out as gay, even tho not by choice and with a lot of bullying. He has had a tough time and a friend like Nick might just be what he needs. This is a coming of age story about two friends that might become much more!
I really enjoyed re-reading the volumes 1-3 and getting finally to the new one. They are really easy and fast to read and a lot of fun. They are just freaking adorable. I especially like Charlie and how dorky and kind he is. He is such a good person and I love how their friendship develops.
Nick is the type of person that makes you think about going with first impressions. He is so much more than he looks like at first! He has a beautiful heart and I think he is perfect for Charlie! Plus he has the cutest of dogs named Nellie!
It’s really entertaining to see their story develop and I pretty much ate the books for how fast I moved through them. I was super excited for number four and it didn’t disappoint! Plus these books have an amazing cast full of diversity! I would highly recommend if you are part of the LBTQ+ community or want to learn more about it! All the cuteness overload was just what I needed for some gloomy days! Plus the artwork is super cute!
