Where there are ghosts, Cassidy Blake follows … unless it’s the other way around?

Cass thinks she might have this ghost-hunting thing down. After all, she and her ghost best friend, Jacob, have survived two haunted cities while travelling for her parents’ TV show.

But nothing can prepare Cass for New Orleans, which wears all of its hauntings on its sleeve. In a city of ghost tours and tombs, raucous music and all kinds of magic, Cass could get lost in all the colourful, grisly local legends. And the city’s biggest surprise is a foe Cass never expected to face: a servant of Death itself.

Cass takes on her most dangerous challenge yet…

“This is Cassidy’s story, she can walk the world of the dead as well as the living. Her parents love anything to do with history and ghosts and recently started a TV show. The first filming is made in Scotland, Edinburgh, which is where all of Cassidy’s and her ghostly best friend Jacob’s adventures will start.” In the second book, we got to see Paris and the Catacombs – and now New Orleans, where their adventure is about to get a whole lot more dangerous!

I love this series to pieces. It’s super adorable, thrilling and gripping. It’s just perfect for October and this is the “scariest” one yet!

The thing I love the most about these books is how much you can learn from them. They have a ton of real content in it and you just gulp it in. I loved knowing about New Orleans! All the voodoo, seances, street parades, largest bridge, and everything in between! I got to learn a ton more about it in an entertaining and exciting way, which is in my opinion one of the things that I look for in middle grade books.

The other thing I look for is amazing friendships, family interaction, … I love Cass and Lara’s friendship! It’s precious how much they care for each other and how much they would give to protect one another even at a young age, even if sometimes not entirely realistic? Or am I just too old and in my time things where different? As well as Jacob of course, our best ghost friend! He sure is a treat and I love his sarcastic self!

Cass’s parents are delightful to read about, I think I would have LOVED being a part of Cass’s life with her parents’ profession and all! There’s some other characters in this book I really came to like too, especially Lara’s aunt!

Cass is an incredibly strong character that would do anything for the ones she loves. She is definitely a role model. You see that even tho sometimes things can be scary, if you trust in yourself and the ones you love, you can achieve things you never thought possible.

Overall this was a very gripping, entertaining and beautiful read full of dark and thrilling moments! Perfect for younger readers but as an adult I couldn’t help but fall in love with this series too.
