Top 5 Books of 2016 So Far

IMG_5841.JPGHey guys! Today I wanted to talk about my top 5 favorite books of 2016 so far! All of these books are either 4.5 or 5 star reads ! Here we go!

In no particular order:

This book was amazing!! It was just so intense! It’s one of those rare books that just make your heart pound! I consumed this book, I was opening it everywhere to continue to read, I was just so filled with emotions that I had to read it all asap. It was truly captivating!! Totally worth the hype!

This book is about a girl named Laia, that when her grandparents get killed and her brother arrested by the martial empire, she turns herself to the rebels, but for them to help her, she has to help them. Laia is sent to spy on the ruthless Commandant of Blackcliff, the Empire’s greatest military academy. She has now to survive to a task that none had until now for the sake of her brother! In the academy she will make some friends and some enemies… Elias, the academy’s finest soldier wants to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia realize that their destinies are intertwined – and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

  • Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1)  by Marisa Meyer

Ah this book… Who doesn’t love retellings?! It is an amazing, AMAZING retelling!! To join scifi and Disney characters? Yes please!! This book is a wonderful and surprising twist on the Cinderella fairytale. It has an amazing story that is both realist and totally impossible that will break your heart to pieces for the characters! It’s a slow passed book just like in a fairy tale but it grows faster in the end and the next book.

This book is about a girl named Cinder, a gifted mechanic that is a cyborg, living in New Beijing. But not the New Beijing we expect to see, this one is full of androids and of course their humans. From space, a ruthless lunar people are awaiting their glorious moment. That’s when a deadly plague ravages the population. Cinder is a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with Prince Kai’s, she finds herself in between love and duty. All she wants is to be free, but her misty past might not let her in order to protect the future of the world!

I will start by saying that I love Percy Jackson and that world, and the only reason why Percy’s books are not here is because The Heroes of Olympus created much more impact in me although they were almost all in between 4 and 5 starts. The House of Hades was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. It’s fast passed full of things happening a lot of amazing characters. Rick Riordan has an amazing writing that is both simple and full of emotion that projects you in that world in every page. I love these stories freaking much, and I totally want to continue to be in this world!! Also, he is one of my favorite authors ❤ (review with briefing here)

This was difficult to choose. I loved Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, just not as much comparing to the following ones. The first book is kind of an introduction to everything and it was awesome, truly. But it didn’t had much happening and it was super slow passed, although it was amazing all the pictures and those peculiar persons, made me fall in love with this world! But… They just got better and better, Library of Souls was so beautiful, they develop a lot of twists, and heartbreaking moments and I really cared about the characters, and all the places that were described where so amazing to literally see! It’s just that that cute story of the begging turns itself into a super complex world where you can either live or die. (review with briefing here)

This book. This book is EXCELLENT!! Everything in it is gorgeous!! Anna is amazing, Étienne is perfect, the writing is beautiful, it has cute moments, stress moments, cry moments, ahh it’s just full of everything you need! I fell in love with this book so quick! And for sure the following ones too! They are all so unique and romantic and and ahhhh ❤ ❤ If you haven’t read these books yet, I totally highly highly recommend! Especially Anna and Lola!! This is a book that for sure I will re-read over and over! (review with briefing here)

Okay guys those were my top 5 books of 2016 so far! Let me know in the comments if any of your favorite books made this list!

Review: Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs (no spoilers)

Library of Souls

Author: Ransom Riggs

Published by Quirk Books

Genres: Young Adult, Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery,  Time Travel, Historical Fiction, …

Pages: 458

Format: Paperback

Buy: Book Depository | Amazon

The adventures that began with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and continued with Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls.

As the story opens, sixteen-year-old Jacob discovers a powerful new ability, and soon he’s diving through history to rescue his peculiar companions from a heavily guarded fortress. Accompanying Jacob on his journey are Emma Bloom, a girl with fire at her fingertips, and Addison MacHenry, a dog with a nose for sniffing out lost children.

They’ll travel from modern-day London to the labyrinthine alleys of Devil’s Acre, the most wretched slum in all of Victorian England. It’s a place where the fate of peculiar children everywhere will be decided once and for all.

Like its predecessors, Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography.

OMG I LOVED IT!!! I love this series soooooo much!! And this last book was the perfect end to the Peculiar trilogy! But… I want more of this world, dang it! LOL It ties up all plot threads, adds more to the mythology of the Peculiar world, and gives us a stressful, nail-biting conclusion that had me on the edge of my seat.

The world is described so freaking awesomely and fully. It has lots of twists and details!

The souls explanation part, that was sad terrifying and revolting. They actually physically disturbed me. Seeing how this aspect of Peculiar life impacts everything else was eye-opening. It makes you see how a “different” person in any aspect is treated in the world, even now-a-days if you think a bout it.

I also loved all the depth we get to Peculiar history. We learn all the answers for how Hollows came about and get to see into the stronghold of them and the Wights. The actual body that is the title of the book, the Library of Souls, was a very intriguing idea.

(I also love how you can relate so much of the world we have to this book in a fantastic way. For example, how power can overcame you and turn you into a dumb-ass LOL)

The characters were just as vibrant as in the other books and to know more of them, was amazing! Getting to know a bit more of Jacob’s powers as they grew and expanded was especially interesting. His powers play a pivotal role in the book’s ending but not in a way that one would expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. I also loved getting to explore Emma’s and Alma’s pasts more as well.

I also enjoyed meeting some new faces who would play big roles in the overall story. Bentham and his gray view of the world kept me intrigued; I loved exploring the Peculiar conflict through his eyes, siding with whomever could give him the better deal. Sharon was also a fun addition. He was a very cool character. And very different from what I initially thought he would be.

The whole book was filled with intense action, constant chases, frantic escapes, and a final showdown that blew my mind. That end…

The Things I liked:

  • To know a whole new world again and again through loops, and especially this horrifying one.
  • The characters development was amazing, as were their peculiarities.
  • I loved how friendship and love take such a big role in this book.

This book was amazing, and I am dying to dive in this story again!! In the second one we were introduced to the Tales of the Peculiar that will turn out to be a book and I am soon excited for it!!! ❤

June Wrap-up And July TBR

Hey guys!! So, this month I read 6 books. I started one more but haven’t finished it yet…

It was a nice month since I manage to pick some books that I was dying to read, and some that wore in my Summer reading list.

From all of this, I have to pick 2 favorites. The House of Hades!! It’s was truly amazing!! Unfortunately I can’t say the same about The Blood of Olympus since half of the book I felt really bored, as I posted in my Review. I also loved SO SO MUCH Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series!! I read some bad reviews on it so I was a afraid I was not going to like, but I loved it!! I loved them all so much and I can’t really decide which one I love the most, but I loved how the story developed, is just so beautiful and I was so NOT expecting it to be like this! It’s lovely!

Also I have reviews for all of this/ coming up, so make sure you check them out!!❤

For my July TBR I’m not very sure since I will be traveling and I don’t know what books more I will have with me yet, but I am aiming to read at least this ones:

(Anna and the French Kiss I started in the end of June and A Storm of Swords I started before but I am taking my time (a LOOOT of time >.<), but I will for sure end it this month!)

This month I am super excited to read Anna and the French Kiss since I heard so much about it all over the internet! I will for sure try to end the trilogy but will see!

These are the ones, I know for sure I intend to read this month, since I am traveling a bit, but I hope I can pick some more up but I don’t know yet with ones!

QOTD: What was your favorite read of June and also… What are you most excited to read in July??

Top 10 Books on my Summer Reading List

Summer is here (well kind of, right?), school is done, you have no more worries for some time in that department!

Since my birthday is tomorrow, I kind of made a selection of books to FOR SURE read this Summer. So because of that, I am choosing books that I asked / bought for my birthday or books that I already owned, that I have been wanted to read but that are always being held back, because new books come in the way (and I get to excited! Common problem right?).

Also, for my birthday I prioritized books that I already own some of the collection, and that I want to continue, but I didn’t had; or ones that I wanted for to long. So basically I want to end the collections I already own before starting new ones, to save some re-readings, since some will already happen! And because I wanted to start reading some contemporaries, that I don’t own much. (There is always some exceptions because of my birthday where I can’t hold myself :P)

So, finally the List:

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Starting well, we have the first exception… It’s a birthday present. But I’ve been wanting to read this book ever since I’ve heard of it, so… It’s okay right? :D. I’ve heard lots of great things about it, and plus its a contemporary!

2. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Of course I will continue with the series!… Another book I heard so much about… People love this books, and I just keep seeing them appear over and over in videos, in posts,… everywhere! I NEED to read them. You need to read them.

3. Isla and the Happily Ever After  by Stephanie Perkins

So pretty much same thing has #2, but in this one I am putting all my hopes! I really hope I love this books has much as everyone, and especially that the last one will be good if not the best! Because it’s the one people most say its amazing, and it’s supposedly where all the girls appear.

4. Cress by Marissa Meyer

I read Cinder and Scarlet early this year, but ever since I haven’t had opportunity to buy the rest of the series since I can’t buy them in my country easily (sigh) So finally I will have them and continue this amazing series!

5. Winter by Marissa Meyer

Winter.. I have so many hopes for this one!! In one side I don’t want to end this series but for other side, I want so much to see finally what will happen!! And to know more about the characters and that amazing world/ worlds!!

6. The Storm by Virginia Bergin

Another book that I have read the previous one this year and that I wanted to continue. This one is only a duology and I really want to know what happens next, since it’s a apocalyptic book! >.<

7. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

I wanted to read this for so long! And a movie is coming up, where the trailer is awesome, and the director of the movie is the amazing Tim Burton. How could I not ask this for my birthday?! So for sure I am super much wanting to read this book since it came out!

8. Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

Like I said, I will totally make sure I end the collections I start. Since I actually have the books, and since I so much wanted to have them. I am pumped up to read them super badly! hihi

9. Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs

The last book. Pretty much #8 I have absolutely no idea where this series will go with the end, or the middle or anything really… But don’t they seem amazing??? Hopefully they will be!

10. The One by Kiera Cass

Finally!!!! I read The Selection and The Elite aeons ago!! And I haven’t found yet till now The One, but finally I will read it! And I am so happy about it, because supposedly will kinda end the part I already read (and that I intend to re-read just to make sure I remember, that for sure I don’t, at least half), since The Heir is passed years afterwords.

So, that was my top 10 books for my summer! Hopefully I’ll get to read them all and also start/finish some series. Hopefully?! Nah, I will for sure read all of this and start/finish some series!

QOTD: Have you read any of this books? And… What books are on your top reading list for this summer?
